How you and your children can achieve a safer gaming experience

Gaming Week is an initiative from the Norwegian foundation Barnevakten, which takes place every year in week 42. The goal is to encourage adults (mostly parents) to engage in the gaming activities of children and young people.

Children can experience many positive aspects of gaming. However, some also encounter harassment, racism, exclusion, or other problematic issues. They may also be exposed to grooming.

The purpose of Gaming Week is to help parents and other adults support children and young people in their gaming lives. For instance, it is easier to set boundaries for children’s gaming when parents first show positive engagement.

Gaming Week is also marked at some schools, libraries, and youth clubs. Each year, there are typically competitions, webinars, videos, and tips on games and how to address any issues that may arise. You can read more on the Norwegian pages about Gaming Week.
